Evaluations

New York Center for Child Development, an agency approved to provide evaluations by the New York State Education Department, offers multi-disciplinary teams of highly trained and experienced evaluators. Depending upon the suspected areas of delay, the team might be comprised of a psychologist, a social worker, a speech language pathologist, a master’s level special education teacher, an occupational and/or a physical therapist.
At no cost to families, the team will evaluate your child’s developmental status. Based on his or her individual needs, the evaluation may include the following components:
- Classroom Observations
- Psychological Evaluations
- Educational Evaluations
- Evaluations of Fine and Gross Motor skills
- Speech and Language Assessments
- Audiologicals
All evaluations are available in English and Spanish and in other languages as required.
Our staff gives high priority throughout the evaluation process to answering your questions and assuring your needs are addressed. If our team evaluates your child, we will attend with you meetings with the New York City Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) to help determine your child’s eligibility for services and to develop an individualized plan of appropriate services for your child.
If you have questions or would like information about referring your child for an evaluation or services, please contact our Intake Department at 212-752-7575, ext. 312

“We have a very caring, competent and diligent staff. I see the results of their work because I see the children from the beginning and know how much they progress and I notice the dramatic changes they make at the end of the year. I see the children blossom before my eyes.”

Intake Coordinator
